Carmen Valle-Trabadelo, Inter-Agency Standing Committee Reference Group on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings

Dr. Carmen Valle-Trabadelo is a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Advisor working with IFRC Reference Centre for Psychosocial Support as the Co-Chair of the IASC Reference Group for MHPSS in emergencies.

Dr. Valle-Trabadelo is a psychologist with almost 20 years’ experience in mental health.

She worked 9 years in academia, as researcher, lecturer and Head of Department. From 2009 she combined this area of work with clinical work and services management in her own clinic in Spain.

In 2011, after several collaborations with universities in LMIC countries, she transitioned to development and humanitarian work.

Since then, she has worked as national, regional and global technical advisor for CBM International and The MHPSS Collaborative/Save the Children, and as MHPSS Lead for the WHO.

She has supported more than 20 countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America, as well as several global initiatives, both in development and humanitarian contexts, with a strong focus on Human Rights, Advocacy and Systems Strengthening.
